Most lenders require an application and verification of your assets and liabilities. I recommend gathering the documentation below and setting up an appointment with a Loan Officer. During the meeting you can complete the application as well as review programs that may be available. Afterwards, the lender will complete a credit check.
Documents
- Tax returns and W2s from the last 2 years,
- Bank Statements from the last 2 months,
- Pay stubs from the last 2 pay periods
- Account numbers and balances of any assets and liabilities that you may have.
Once the lender has reviewed the documentation, you should get 1) a Good Faith Estimate and 2) the Pre-Approval Letter. The process takes anywhere from 1-2 hours to 1-2 days depending on the lender and you specific set of circumstances.
